A Real Life Mermaid
February is the month of love and so we had to highlight one of our favorite red-headed photographer, influencer, and mermaid, (more on that later), the incredible, Miss Brandee Anthony.
There’s really nothing to dislike about Brandee. Well, maybe that her Instagram is better than yours. But other than that, she’s one you need to have on your radar.
We caught up with Brandee Anthony and got some insight on where she’s been (which is everywhere), where she’s going (which is big places), and some of her best hair care tips!
Hair Spotlight: Brandee Anthony
GGH: Hi, Brandee! Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with us. We’re huge fans of all your work.
Brandee: Thank you! I am so excited!
GGH: Okay, so, you are an artist, a model, a social media influencer, a photographer, a mermaid…the list goes on. When someone asks you, “What do you do?” how do you answer that question?
Brandee: oh man that’s a good question! Firstly I ask if they want the honest or the short answer! The short answer is exactly what you just said 🙂
GGH: Well, you clearly stay busy. We don’t want to skip over this mermaid bit though. How did that come about?
Brandee: I have always had a love for mermaids but never imagined I would become one! After stepping into the live stream space and creating countless broadcasts, I wanted to create something interesting and underwater! So I purchased my first GoPro and a mermaid tail to create interesting and very unique live broadcasts underwater. From there it went crazy and became a huge part of my life that is constantly growing!
GGH: It’s an honor to meet a mermaid. We have to talk about your hair. We are a hair website, after all. Your hair is glorious. First, and we know this is a personal question, but, do you color your hair?
Brandee: Why thank you! Yes, I do color my hair. I am naturally a bronze brunette.
GGH: How do you keep your hair looking so healthy? Especially considering how much time you spend in the sun and water.
Brandee: I have been pretty lucky with my hair considering all the elements I put it through! It is a challenge to keep it red and be in the water. I wash my hair once a week and really try not to do much to my hair.
GGH: What are some of your favorite hair products?
Brandee: I don’t really use any hair products as I don’t style my hair but on very rare occasions. I love to use castor and argon oil as well as cedar wood and tea tree essential oils.
(See Get Good Head’s list of best oils for your hair!)
GGH: Good choices! Do you have any “hair crushes?” Meaning, anyone with great hair that makes you gasp in awe?! haha!
Brandee: My greatest hair crush has always been my cousin Kristen Anthony. She is a colorist and each time she creates a new look I am in total awe!
GGH: Awesome. Okay, you have a large social media following. How did that come about?
Brandee: Randomly. haha! I just started going live on an app called Periscope and had a feeling it was where I was meant to be. And with hard work, unique content and daily streams it took off!
GGH: Periscope seems to be your largest platform with more than 152,000 followers. What do all those people mean to you?
Brandee: They really mean a lot to me. My following has changed my life and what I thought could be possible.
GGH: Clearly people love you. It’s so great how engaged you are with your fan base. What would you say to women who are looking to expand their social media presence and/or start live streaming?
Brandee: I would say to get out there and do it! You will change constantly and feel unsure all the time and that’s okay! Half the time I had no idea what I was doing but I just kept going. The biggest advice I have and once I learned it myself is when I truly started growing on social media. Find your authentic voice, it took me two years. Once you truly believe in your content others can connect with you and you will do create things!
GGH: That is great advice. Alright, is there anything else you think our readers should know about you?
Brandee: I love to collaborate! So anyone feel free to reach out to me on social media and let’s connect and see what we can create together!
GGH: Well, thank you so much for your time, Brandee!
