The 9 Best Volumizing Shampoos

Hair that has volume looks healthy, gives you a vibrant appearance, and makes you look like you should be on the red carpet! (It also gives you better sex). If your hair could use a pick-me-up, here are some of the best volumizing shampoo choices, whether your hair is thin and straight, wavy and wispy, tight coiled, or anywhere in between. We’ve determined these top 9 based on user reviews, price, and the first-hand experience using the product.

1. John Frieda Luxurious Volume Touchably Full Shampoo

The best volumizing shampoo from John Frieda helps make the hair thicker, which definitely comes in handy when you notice that your hair is thinning. The product is gentle enough to be used every day, and the volume polymer in the shampoo helps fill in the space between hair strands.

Luxurious Volume Touchably Full Shampoo is especially ideal for hair that has been color-treated as well. However, please be aware that there are clarifying agents in this shampoo – if used too often, you can strip your hair of essential oils and color! So, if you do use this shampoo, make sure to spread your washing days apart.

2. OGX Thick & Full + Biotin & Collagen Extra Strength Volumizing Shampoo

This shampoo gives lift and volume to the hair due to natural ingredients like wheat and bamboo proteins. These ingredients also soften the hair strands for a healthier coif that is easy to style. If you like hairstyles like full ponytails and side-swept bangs with waves, this shampoo will likely work well for you.

I love the fresh feeling I get on my scalp after washing with OGX Thick & Full Shampoo. I also have no problem using this product each day, even after coloring. Some users did report having an itchy scalp. However, those reports were far and few between.

3. Neutrogena Clean Volume Body Enhancing Shampoo

We all know that Neutrogena dominates the industry, mostly because they have great products without breaking the bank. They aren’t the cheapest, but they are affordable.  This gentle shampoo rinses clean and adds volume to the hair without build-up.

4. It’s A 10 Miracle Volumizing Shampoo

It’s A 10 Miracle Volumizing Shampoo is free from sulfates and gives the hair a light feel while adding moisture and volume, making it one of the best volumizing shampoos.

The product is deep cleaning and provides the hair with body and bounce while protecting color. Washing with this shampoo often will make strands full and soft to the touch. What I like most about this product is the movement it gives my hair. I’ve never had a problem with overusing this shampoo. My hair loves this shampoo – it’s like my hair drinks it up.

Using this Pantene volumizing shampoo will promote body and thickness to the hair for 24 hours. And they mean it! For 24 hours, your hair will look great, but after the time has passed,  you will need another wash.

Luckily, this product is very cheap! You can get two bottles for less than $15.This is one of the reasons people love this shampoo. You can wash each day, you’ll get great volume, and you won’t break the bank doing it! Sounds good to me!

I personally couldn’t get enough of this! It did exactly what it promised to do – give my hair volume and leave it feeling fresh and clean. It is a little pricier, but keep in mind that you are getting both the shampoo and the conditioner.

I had a lot of hair loss after a life trauma. This is what worked for me (but please talk to your doctor first and don’t do this if you are pregnant or nursing). I started taking a zinc supplement daily and it help minimize the hair loss. Instead of my brush being full of strands that I was losing, I noticed that after about a month, I was losing less hair when I would brush my hair (and I’m very gentle with my hair). If you haven’t tried what is called a Wet Brush, you might look into one. It doesn’t pull your hair but gets the job done. And never brush wet hair. Always comb through gently with a wide comb.
I also started using Rogaine for women liquid on my scalp every night. Within a month, I could feel the little “stubbies” where new hair was coming in. Now my hair is much thicker and longer. And no more scalp showing through!
While this may not work for everyone, it made a huge difference for me. I hope it helps someone else.
